District 9 is not alone...
By now most of you have seen District 9. Yes it is a great movie but it came from very humble beginnings..
Here is the original short film that the movie is based off "Alive in Joburg
I also found this short film a few months ago "What's in the Box?" apparently a test film for a future project. Has the same feel as District 9 and Alive in Joburg, and I've read that it was done on a budget of $200
So what do you think...? Any correlations?

HDR evolution of "hopes of safety"
Hey There!!
Going to run through the very simple processing work I use on much of HDR (maybe a little psuedo to you technical folks) photo work
Ok, so here is the original RAW photo out of my Nikon D100
This is the scene exactly as I saw it through my lense at 10 mph
Camera settings I used to capture the orignal image (Aperture Priority)
exposure 1/1667
aperture f/3.5
focal length 28mm
iso 200
First Step:
Photomatix Tonemapping
I like the color and detail that has been ferried to the surface, but more punch is needed.
Second Step: (and final in the case of this photo)
Photoshop work...
Using Nik Software to contrast the tones and brighten the colors a little.. Subtle use of noise reduction in the sky and sign (my 6mp cam leaves me with some harsh noise at times)
Make sure to View Large On Black ... its the only way you can grasp the details
This is the string of work I do for single RAW files... A full on auto bracketed 3 (or more) exposure HDR is something else entirely
Let me know what you think... What I should change... Or how I can do it better...
